Christmas markets are popular in almost every bigger city of Europe. They gather great number of regional sellers and craftsmen, who share their products with people who appreciate hand-made works and local food specialities. The extra value which attract so many people to different kinds of fairs, it usually is the historical surroundings of old towns. The market squares are decorated with shiny colourful glass balls, glimmering lights, monumental Christmas trees and other funny Christmas decorations. If you have a chance to visit Croatia during Christmas time, we recommend you visiting its capital city – Zagreb. The city centre's streets are richly decorated. Visitors can find christmas stalls almost in every corner of the city centre, so it is easy to feel the Christmas atmosphere and combine it with sightseeing and explore magical fair. The central market of ban Jelacic turns into a small winter village with snowed high trees, white stands where mulled wine and traditional food are sold. In King Tomislav Park there is located the Ice Park. Zrinjvac is another nice place, full of lights and interesting stands with Santa's home. You can taste traditional delicacies and enjoy entertainment programmes: singing, dancing, and other.

The other place being famous for its unique European oldest Christmas market, it is Strassbourg. The tradition of Christmas market is dated back to 1570. The city centre is dotted with 300 stalls, spread out over 12 locations. Visitors can enjoy the authenticity, warmth and generosity of Strassbourg Capital of Christmas. The entertainment programme offers Advent concerts, a wide range of authentic live music and cultural events.

For 5 weeks, the stalls, being weighed down with all manner of seasonal souvenirs, are spread through the area of the historic city centre. This place is filled with smiling people, inspiring encounters, colourful decorations, delicious local specialities. You can take part in a festive Christmas Parade, take a seat in the traditional Ferris wheel and relax.
